Walter Chan, ICSP

Walter Chan is a seasoned public safety and security professional based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with over 27 years of experience in municipal and provincial government.

He currently serves as a Supervisor in the City of Toronto’s Corporate Security Section and is a retired Ontario Correctional Officer, having completed 25 years of distinguished service with the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

Walter is widely recognized for his leadership in corporate training, security risk management, emergency preparedness, and crime prevention. In 2024, he was named a Security Innovator Award honoree by SecurityInfoWatch for pioneering reforms in security recruitment and training that have influenced public sector standards nationwide.

Currently serving as Director-at-Large with the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners (ISCPP) since 2018, Walter holds multiple industry-leading designations including Master Security Instructor (MSI), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Canadian Risk Manager (CRM), and Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM).

His contributions extend to college advisory committees and international organizations, where he champions education, innovation, and ethical leadership in the evolving field of protective services.
