Marianthi Karras, ICSP

Marianthi is the Volunteer and Staff Engagement Coordinator at Seva Food Bank, where she leads volunteer engagement, training, and community-based initiatives supporting vulnerable populations. She was recognized with the “Leader in Volunteer Engagement” Award (2015) for her excellence in volunteer leadership and program development.

Previously, Marianthi worked as a Training and Development Coordinator and HR Operations Coordinator with Regency Hyatt Casino and Resorts, where she gained extensive experience in organizational leadership, training systems, and workforce development.

She holds a Degree in Sociology and Diversity Studies from the University of Toronto and has currently completed a Human Services Management and Leadership Certificate at the University of Toronto. Since 2016, she has served as a Mentor for University of Toronto Medical Students, supporting future healthcare professionals in community-focused learning and leadership.

Marianthi is an Advisory Board Member for the Family & Community Social Services Program at the University of Guelph-Humber and a Board of Directors Member for Bramalea Knights, a youth basketball program supporting youth at risk. She has been an active member of the Regional Diversity Roundtable since 2014 and serves as a Community Leadership Mentor.

She has been recognized by the Peel Regional Police Chief’s Management Group for her contributions to collaborative community projects. In 2025, Marianthi received a Citation Award from Peel Regional Police for her contributions to community safety and partnership-building, as well as the Community Engagement Award from Serving with Pride (2025).

Marianthi works closely with law enforcement and community partners on the GRIT Program, supporting youth involved in or impacted by the justice system through mentorship, engagement, and skill development. She is also highly active in the Youth Engagement Strategy with Peel Regional Police, contributing to prevention-focused, relationship-driven approaches to community safety.

She is passionate about supporting law enforcement candidates through volunteer engagement, skills development, and experiential learning, emphasizing the role of community engagement in effective and ethical policing. Marianthi is a member of the Canadian Society of Evidence-Based Policing and has been a member of ISCPP since 2019.
