How Does the ISCPP Work?

The ISCPP contributes to the reduction and control of criminal opportunity and victimization by:

  • Encouraging crime prevention education and practice in public, private and voluntary sectors;

  • Supporting and guiding crime prevention programs and activities;

  • Aiding the development and establishment of crime prevention programs;

  • Responding to the needs of the crime prevention practitioner;

  • Stimulating the exchange of ideas among ISCPP members.

Membership Services

ISCPP E-News - Keep up with the latest in crime prevention with the ISCPP E-News.  This is an EXCLUSIVE benefit of ISCPP Membership (you must be a current ISCPP member to sign up) that is e-mailed out twice a month.  Sign up by e-mailing ISCPP President Bruce Wall, ICPS by using the form on the BOARD page of this website.  Once you register, you will receive a confirmation of registration via e-mail in 2-3 working days.  Approximately 2 times a month, you'll receive e-mail with the latest news, resources, conferences and information!

Practitioner - the official newsletter of the ISCPP is delivered via e-mail quarterly to members only.  It features current articles on crime prevention technology, programs, people, legislative issues, Society activities, and provides an open forum for members.  Members may sign up to receive the Practitioner by contacting Immediate ISCPP Executive Director Richard Cannady, ICPS using the form on the BOARD page of this website

Technical Assistance

Just an e-mail away for ISCPP members!  Go to the Board Page to find out how to link to your Regional Director or to other Board Members.

Regional Directors link members into a technical assistance network.

The ISCPP represents its members' views to affiliated organizations and associations.  The Society's official position on crime prevention initiatives is reflected by resolutions passed at the annual crime prevention symposium.

Recognition

ISCPP members receive a membership card, lapel pin, and certificate suitable for framing.  The Annual International Crime Prevention Symposium recognizes four outstanding individual practitioners, volunteers, and crime prevention units.  Find out more by going to the ISCPP Awards page of this website.

Training

Members have access to a vast array of training opportunities.  The Society has taken the lead in developing the first minimum standard INTERNATIONAL CRIME PREVENTION SPECIALIST CURRICULUM.  It covers 34 crime prevention areas and is offered to members at a reduced cost.  Members who pass the ICPS Test based on the Curriculum can use the initials "ICPS" after their name (e.g. Joe Prevention, ICPS) which stands for International Crime Prevention Specialist.  This designation indicates that the practitioner has demonstrated a basic knowledge of crime prevention.  The practitioner must stop using the designation if they allow their ISCPP Membership to lapse.

ISCPP Annual International Crime Prevention Symposium

The Symposium provides a wide range of workshops and educational sessions for both beginning and experienced crime prevention practitioners.  Get the scoop at the SYMPOSIUM page.
